Valsartan, sold under the brand name Diovan among others, is a medication used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, and diabetic kidney disease. It is a reasonable initial treatment for high blood pressure. It is taken orally. Valsartan has been known to cause serious injuries as it has harmful side effects such as kidney disease, hypotension (low blood pressure) and Angioedema. Taking Diovan while pregnant can result in birth injuries and birth defects as it is a dangerous teratogen. Valsartan has recently been recalled as many batches produced between 2012-2018 contain the suspected carcinogen NDMA. This is the same carcinogen found in Zantac. If you have been diagnosed with any type of cancer due to Valsartan please contact our drug injury lawyers handling Valsartan injury lawsuits.
